About the contest
The contest of users' videos "Film science" aims to reveal new names in scientific journalism. It is focused on videobloggers, television journalists, scientists, students interested in popularizing scientific knowledge.
The co-organizers of the competition are the free Internet encyclopedia Wikipedia (with the assistance of the Russian branch of "Wikimedia RU") and the All-Russian Science Festival NAUKA 0+. The project is supported by the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation.
Partner of the contest PJSC "TogliattiAzot", one of the leading chemical companies, the largest ammonia manufacturers in Russia.
Who can participate?
The contest is addressed to everyone who wants to tell about science in any language subtitled in English. We invite participants of all ages, regardless of the type of occupation and place of residence. Participants of the contest can be teachers or students of universities, science journalists, as well as all who are interested in science.
What is necessary to participate in the contest?
Upload a video file on the web page of the project with a footage corresponding to one of three categories: "Experiment", "Popular science" or "Discovery".
Upload a photo of the scientific subject on the web page of the project.
- Full name.
- Text description to a photo or video (no more than 1000 symbols).
How to add your work?
- To publish a video or photo work on the site, you need to register and agree with the contract of the offer.
- All works pass pre-moderation. We reject or publish the work no later than 3 days after its uploading to the site by the author.
- To pass the moderation, the work must correspond to the thematic section and mandatory technical characteristics.
- The editorial staff reserve the right to refuse to publish the video, despite the formal fulfillment of the previous paragraph, without giving reasons.
- If you do not agree with the moderator's decision, you noticed an error, you still have questions, write to the e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org with the subject "Film science".
Deadlines for applications submission and the procedure for their consideration
The competition is open from July 10, 2018. Applications are accepted from July 17, 2018, to September 30, 2018, inclusive.
Applications for the contest are accepted on the website of the "Science" television channel naukatv.ru. After sending the application, the user receives an automatic email. All applications are moderated and posted on the contest website within seven days from the date of submission.
Applications with the content that does not correspond to the nominations of the contest, or provided without contact information, are not registered and are not considered.
The selection and decision-making process for candidates is taken by a jury consisting of the editorial board of the "Science" television channel, leading Russian popularizers of science, videobloggers, and partners of the "Film science" contest, from October 1 to October 7, 2018.
The procedures for works consideration
After submitting an application for the contest, the video is considered in two modes:
1) the jury (see deadlines for applications submission and the procedure for their consideration);
2) viewers of the television channel "Science".
Representatives of the TV channel "Science" inform all contest participants about the results within seven days from the date of submission.
The list of winners of the contest is approved by the editorial board of the television channel "Science" and will be announced on October 9, 2018.
Motives for rejecting applications are not reported, applications are not reviewed, materials submitted for the contest are not returned.
In the "Science photo" nomination, the professional jury vote on the Wikimedia website.

Do not add horizontal or vertical stripes to the video.
Try to upload videos in the highest resolution and best quality for 1 to 5 minutes.

The minimum duration of an audiovisual fragment is 1 minute (excluding black and static images in the video, as well as silence and background noise in the audio track). The maximum duration of an audiovisual fragment is 5 minutes.
Frame frequency. The video should have an initial frequency of 24 to 30 frames per second.
If you can not encode the video in accordance with the recommended requirements, send it in the following formats WMV, AVI, MOV and FLV. In this case, you should add the video in the highest quality. If you are unable to encode the video in accordance with the recommended requirements, add a few test videos to check the quality of their playback on YouTube.
